I love cake and well, that kind of says it all. For as long as I can remember I wanted to do something with food. All kinds of food really. That’s why I’ve studied ‘Food design and innovations’ and although I’ve studied all kinds of food, cake and cupcakes are my favourite.
So after years of making cake (in all kinds of colours), pies and muffins, I’ve started experimenting with decorating cake.
At first I felt like a little kid with playdough and to be honest, those cakes weren’t very good. So we will not talk about that. But then I started to get the hang of it. I started using fondant and experimenting as much as I can. I even started giving cakes to the neighbours, because I was making more than we could eat. The neighbours loved it and it wasn’t long before the first knocked on the door and asked if they could order one for a birthday. That’s when the dream came.
Although I have BA, and I’m graduated in packing design (which I love, don’t get me wrong), I would love to own a cakeshop one day, maybe even a cupcakeshop. I want to make beautiful cakes and cupcakes and sell them to people. But not just that. I want to make cakes that makes people’s day, that make them happy and make them smile. That buying a cake, even a little one, is a special treat for any occasion, not just the ‘regular’ ones.
Yes, I know it’s a big dream, but it’s not impossible. Just one step a time and now it’s time to send my creations into the world. Hence the blog.
